The assignment for photography was to create a freaky
image by taking photos of unusual objects and merging them together to make an
advert.
I took pictures of a blue varse
and I also took a picture of a clapperboard. I first researched freaky images
so I had more of an idea of what to do, what I did to find the freaky images I searched
in google images 'freaky and weird images' and I got a lot of results, some of
them I didn’t like as they was to freaky and would of not been suitable and
then I found some that I liked and got inspiration from. The characteristics of
a freaky images is anything from bulging eyes to a weird ornament found in someone’s
home but my favorite part is when there are freaky images and when they are
real and haven’t been Photoshoped so people will look at them and admire them, these
are my favorites as that they are unique and unusual. I also think a freaky characteristic
is when something is terrifying but makes you want to look at them twice and
they are creepy and weird.
I’ve always
been into photography, but I didn’t know what all the fancy words on the top of
the camera did, but now I know that A is for Apature the
aperture is the opening in the lens, formed by a set of diaphragm blades. By
changing the aperture setting, these blades can be made to open and close and
consequently allow more or less light to hit the camera sensor, M is for Manual mode which gives you complete control over the three
elements of exposure, S is for Speed, shutter speed is a measure of how long
your camera’s sensor is exposed to light and P is for Program, program exposure mode is the thinking person's
auto: the camera chooses the most important settings for you.
My idea was to merge my image to make a freaky home
decor advert for people that like unusual things and for the people who collect
freaky objects. I used my camera to take photos, I took them in the room next
door because it was quiet and easier to concentrate, the main reason I wanted
to go into the other room was I needed to concentrate so I didn’t mess up the
photograph. I used a red head light and what a red head light do is flood the
light out of large areas, and are also useful to fill and backlights.
Through the editing process I used Photoshop and in
Photoshop I used the level tool to make my images lighter and the quick
selection tool to cut out my images. I also used the pen tool to get smoother
edges.
If I could do it differently I would take more
pictures and put more pictures onto my final design. I think my final images
does meet the brief because it is freaky and weird.
