freaky adverts

Little Babys Ice CreamLink: https://goo.gl/5UGMLs

This advert has been created using a close-up camera shot of someone covered in ice cream. On the advert she is just eating the ice cream off of her head with a spoon while staring blank looked into the camera then the video uses a fade transition into the little babys logo. This advert is creeply effective because its unusual and you would never see anyone doing this. This advert uses non-diegetic sounds because the person is speaking in the background and not while doing the scene. The tempo of the music in the background is slow and steady to make it a calm type of advert.

Missing Our Deals Will Haunt You - Zombie TV Advert - Phones 4u.
Link: https://goo.gl/U5M5Kv

This advert mainly uses 2 different camera shots, close-ups and mid-shots. this is to help show what is happening and to show the emotions and reactions of the actor to the viewers. In this advert there is a guy running through a forest from someone/something, he runs up and tries to hide behind a tree, he peeks out one side and sees nothing, he turns around and there is a zombie right behind him staring off towards the camera with a blank stare, this is to add to the effect that he is dead. after this moment in the advert the zombie holds out a phone and continues to tell us information about the deal, then a hand pops up out of the floor and makes the phones 4 u hand gesture. this advert uses diegetic and non-diegetic sounds because it has the noise of the person running and the zombie speaking but also has some background sounds to add effect to the person getting scared and to make the atmosphere more serious. The tempo of this advert is reasonable fast to add to the effect that someone is following him/chasing him.

Metz- Judder-man drink advert
Link- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TUOPeNJCK8

This advert is creepy and unusual because there is a character that looks like Edward scissor hands there are many shots of this advert including close-up , mid shot- and long shots so the audience can see this character from head to toe and look at his creepy features he also has a weird voice, throughout the advert the freaky character  follows a young man around with a drink  and at the end he promotes the Metz drink by giving it to him.

The label we designed for the top of our product, this has been resized to a generic butter tub size.
This label is for the sides of our butter and is also resized so it will fit basically any generic butter tub size.

Our proposal is pretty well explained and pretty well layed out. We made one separate paragraph for each part of the proposal.

This is my groups final title to do this we used the crop tool and magic wand tool to get the fonts without background colour. We selected the words and changed the colours. The background is a yellowy colour as our product butter.
The yellow colours stands out with the green. We chose the green as we filmed out side on a park, another reason why we chose the greenish background because it connotes freshness just like butter.

In lesson we have access the a lot of resources such as lighting, tables for our objects to be placed on, and the main thing is computers as we can do pretty much anything on them. So I think the classroom is the best location to do anything on.

iso and the effect

What is ISO and what does it effect?

• What is ISO and what does it effect?
ISO is short for International Standards Organisation, the affect ISO gives you is giving accurate colour rendition and “clean” noise-free images.

•When would we use the ‘P’ control setting on the camera mode dial
You can control the detail of the work but not have to mess around with the shutter speed or the aperture.

•Name two important consideration when attaching the tripod base plate to the bottom of camera?
Make sure that it is thumb tight and also make sure that the arrow is pointing towards the lens.
Make sure that the leaver is pushed in fully so it does not pop back out again.

•Name three important considerations when using a red-head lighting kitDon't touch the lens because it gets extremely hot, don't shake or drop the light because the filament inside becomes soft after the light's been on for an extended amount of time. Make sure you don't touch or mess around with the barn doors.

•When focusing the camera, what do we place on the object/subject to ensure it is the center of focus?
The object your taking a picture of needs to be in the little green rectangles, however you need to take it into consideration as using the rule of thirds.

•Name two technique we can use to adjust the brightness and contrast of a photograph? Curves and levels which by using a histogram. We can also adjust the shutter speed, and the aperture (making the image smaller and larger) and also use the ISO.

Panasonic Hdc 900 camera
                                                     Potential for 3D moviemaking

  • 3MOS system renders 2D and 3D images with best-ever Panasonic image quality
  • 1,080/50p Recording (Full-HD 1,920 x 1,080, 50 Progressive Recording)
  • 3D Image Shooting with an Optional 3D Conversion Lens
  • Large 3.5-inch LCD with Touch Operation
  • SDXC/SDHC/SD Memory Card Recording
  •  It also has a build-in mic

  •  The different brightness's settings in the menu
The camcorder is very light and quite small so you can have it in your pocket as your walking ect.

What I have learnt with the Panasonic camera is how to adjust the brightness on it with the menu settings.
I have also learnt how to take pictures and record videos, and how to use the mic. The white balance adjusting colours so that the image looks more natural.
Rule of third- The rule of thirds is one of the main “rules” in art and photography. Photos are divided into thirds with two imaginary lines vertically and two lines horizontally making three columns, three rows and nine sections in the images. Important parts of the image should be placed on or near the imagery lines, this is for that if you place points of interest in the intersections or along the lines that your photo becomes more balanced and will enable a viewer of the image to interact with it more naturally.

    Marisa-evaluation

    Video Evaluation

Advert evaluation, For our advert video we got into groups of three my group was me , Berkay and Shaun. We had to make a spider diagram of ideas on what our advert was going to be and we came up with a product which was butter, we also had ideas about what the advert was going to include, such as props, location ect.
We all agreed on our advert being filmed on a park where we would film the peace and quietness of the trees and then we would show someone laying down enjoying the peace and suddenly a brick would fall on their head and blood will splat over the camera and then it would cut off and then the logo would come up with the slogan saying '' Don't lay it, spread it'' I think this is a very good idea as it suits the theme and a its a good way to advertise our product. The equipment we needed was camera, a tripod and the prop which is a ''sponge brick''.

Then we had to put this on a storyboard in Marisa's lesson.
The shots on the storyboard included
The First shot we are using a panning shot.
The second shot it is going to be a Mid-shot
The Third shot it is going to Be a POV shot.
The Fourth shot it is going to be a Wide shot

When we went to go to recording we found a park near our college and it was at St Mary's Rest Garden, we started with the first shot where we just recorded the park and to show how peaceful it is, then for the second shot we changed it, instead of our actor lying down on the grass we made him sit on a bench as the weather had changed and it had been raining all day. Then for the third shot Berkay climbed a tree and threw the brick down onto the camera which made it a P.O.V shot this shot took awhile as he couldn't quite get it on to the camera but he got there in the end, then for our final shot we include our logo and slogan.

After we had recorded it we went on the computers to edit them on the photo-shop software

We have decided to include effects and also include fades into our advert on Photoshop.
We are including the background music which for the first few scenes is a peaceful music to create a peaceful scenery
     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G8LAiHSCAs

And when the brick is falling we are going to use
the bomb- drop sound effect this will be
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGigkA-Xh5E
Then for the blood splatter noise we are going to use this sound as this fits the theme.

    Owain- Banner

    This is my simple banner.
This only took me like half an hour it was quick and easy. The only problem I had creating this was the grey triangles they wouldn't match with the box. I got the fish of the internet and got a picture of a tongue. I created the fish with the tongue a week ago it only took me about 5 minuets to make it. I'm very pleased with it .With the background I got some help of a friend as I had some difficulty with it. Overall I'm very proud of this.

What I did to create this was I did I had to create a rectangle at first and then I anchored the sides so it curved inwards, after that I made a small square which I then direct selected the middle of it and made it into a triangle shape by backspacing the point I selected then I changed the angle to -90 degrees and made the gradient lighter that was a bit of a challenge but luckily I got help with it. Then I copied the triangle and put the triangle on the other side so it looks more like a banner , then I added red text to it to make it stand out on the black background of the banner. Then I added the fish with the tongue which I made a week before. What I did to do the fish was get a picture off the intenet of a random fsh then I got a picture of a tongue but I had to make sure it was just the tongue which I had to cut the lips off then I added the fish onto one layer then added the tongue to another layer and put the layer with the tongue on top of the layer which had the fish on. I made the background last which I also needed help with as I forgot how to do it, I didn't want just one colour as it would look bland so I managed to add three colours to make it attractive.

    Advert evaluation

I have produced an advert for my product which is silky smooth butter. I researched other adverts that advertised butter and it helped so I had ideas of how to place my picture and where to put my logo, slogan, and other information. I used Photoshop, Photoshop helped me learn how to use the warp tool and how to wrap the label around the container, it took me a while to figure it out but in the end I got it and got used to it. I have learned a lot of new skills with using Photoshop like how to use the warp tool, how to remove and add layers, how to cut out things without deleting all my work, I’ve also learn how to do change colors for the background.
I’m not use to Photoshop as I’ve never used it before so it took me longer to understand what tools did and how to use the tools correctly. The equipment I used was the click selection to take out the background and then did select then inverse then pressed the delete button which is very easy. Next I added the label I made then I used the click selection again to take off the parts I didn't need, then I used text then I put it on the lid which was easy. Then I added another layer to create a circle and color it in dark red and then I had to add text which I had some problems with because the layer it was on wouldn’t go on top of the layer I wanted it to but with some help I got there. I did the background first as it was so easy and quick to do.
I think my final piece is okay but I could have done it better if I had more time and had more of a clearer understanding. If I could do it differently I would have spent less time on my planning and more time creating to make my final piece the best it could be. I would also add brighter colors because they make the advert appealing and better to look at then having dark colors. I also think I would place my product to the side instead of the middle.

    Photography evaluation

The assignment for photography was to create a freaky image by taking photos of unusual objects and merging them together to make an advert.

I took pictures of a blue varse and I also took a picture of a clapperboard. I first researched freaky images so I had more of an idea of what to do, what I did to find the freaky images I searched in google images 'freaky and weird images' and I got a lot of results, some of them I didn’t like as they was to freaky and would of not been suitable and then I found some that I liked and got inspiration from. The characteristics of a freaky images is anything from bulging eyes to a weird ornament found in someone’s home but my favorite part is when there are freaky images and when they are real and haven’t been Photoshoped so people will look at them and admire them, these are my favorites as that they are unique and unusual. I also think a freaky characteristic is when something is terrifying but makes you want to look at them twice and they are creepy and weird.

I’ve always been into photography, but I didn’t know what all the fancy words on the top of the camera did, but now I know that A is for Apature the aperture is the opening in the lens, formed by a set of diaphragm blades. By changing the aperture setting, these blades can be made to open and close and consequently allow more or less light to hit the camera sensor, M is for Manual mode which gives you complete control over the three elements of exposure, S is for Speed, shutter speed is a measure of how long your camera’s sensor is exposed to light and P is for Program, program exposure mode is the thinking person's auto: the camera chooses the most important settings for you.

My idea was to merge my image to make a freaky home decor advert for people that like unusual things and for the people who collect freaky objects. I used my camera to take photos, I took them in the room next door because it was quiet and easier to concentrate, the main reason I wanted to go into the other room was I needed to concentrate so I didn’t mess up the photograph. I used a red head light and what a red head light do is flood the light out of large areas, and are also useful to fill and backlights.

Through the editing process I used Photoshop and in Photoshop I used the level tool to make my images lighter and the quick selection tool to cut out my images. I also used the pen tool to get smoother edges.

If I could do it differently I would take more pictures and put more pictures onto my final design. I think my final images does meet the brief because it is freaky and weird.

    This is my advertisement sketch

This is my photoshop for my product the equipment i used was the click selection to take out the background and then did select then inverse then pressed the delete button. Owain Davies-
                                          Advert evaluation
I used Photoshop to produce my magazine for my product which is called Silky Smooth Butter. I looked on the internet for ideas to help me have a clearer understanding of the layouts of a magazine and know what kind of font and size I would need to use to make it look descend and know about the location where to put the font. This helped me by having a clear understanding of what kind of font and size I need. Unfortunately I didn’t find any magazine that will suit my product so I took ideas from quite a few inspirational magazines.
The skills I learned by using Photoshop was how to use click selection correctly. I also learned how to take off layers and add them. I used Photoshop a few times before but hardly knew anything about what to do.

I feel really pleased with my final piece as I never used Photoshop before and I think it turned out good. If I had to do it again differently I don’t know what I’d do really. I could use more tools or take my time with it as I was rushing as I was doing my other work.

    Saint Mary's Rest Garden

(due to technical issues i had to print screen this) This is a small park behind Stoney Street.

We needed a park style area in order for Shaun to lie down.
I think this would be a great area as Shaun needs to lie down.

We need a bench for Shaun to sit on so this would be a great place.

This is the entrance to the resting garden where we will be filming.

    owain davies, fonts

    Owain Davies

    We have chosen these

We have chosen these fonts because we think that they fit the genre ''silky smooth butter'',
Furthermore some of the fonts look like the actual name smooth, the  one with the font dripping also fits the criteria because it could be portrayed as butter. We are going to change the font colours to yellow as our product is butter.

                                                    my group
We got put into groups of 3-4 i was put in a group with Berkay and Shaun. We had to tell eachother who we were and what key skills we have. All three of us are camera shy so we asked if someone was aloud to wear a mask or a costume and we was aloud, this helped the person who was going to be infront of the camera they will feel comfortable, so Berkay said he would but only if someone did it with him Shaun nominated his self.

                                                freaky advert
The first advert we chose was the Phones 4 U advert is a man running away from a zombie, and the man hid behind a tree and the zombie came around telling the man that the Samsung tocco icon is only 59.95 pound on pays you go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrIZnC8q7RQ

The second advert was Metz- judderman. Its about the central character in "Forrest", an advert for Metz. Who is a elf/Jack Frost-like creature, the Judderman waylays innocent travellers and tempts them to taste the alcohol, at which they 'judder' due to its being served cold. The advert was known for scaring children and was voted as the scariest advert of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TUOPeNJCK8

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XKg_o1YfTg - brick hitting Shaun's face
     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeIhRdR2jsU- starter music

    Our product is Butter.
The butters going to be called Silky Smooth Butter. Berkay came up with the whole idea of doing butter he also came up with the slogan 'Don't lay it spread it'. For the advert we decided that if Shaun lies down and that we were going to have a brick (that's a sponge) and drop it on his face, and that we're going to cut it off then show the product, where we would cut it off Shaun's face is going to appear in front of the camera he'll be wearing the brick on his face saying 'Silky Smoooth'
We got a location were we was going to film and took pictures of it. The place we are going to film at it a little park called St Mary's Rest Garden. We had to make sure it wasn't a busy place so we could film better.
Originally Shaun was going to be lying down on the floor but when we went to film the grass was to wet for him to lie down luckily there was a bench near where we was filming so he laid down on the bench. When we got to the park we picked a spot which was a good spot, Berkay climbed the tree with the brick, Shaun held the camera on the floor and Berkay had to drop the brick, it took a while as the brick didn't land on the camera but luckily he managed to get it as close to the camera the best he could. We managed to get fake blood off another group that was filming their advert. Me and Berkay starting putting the blood on Shaun.

    OD-Ghost pictures

    Owain Davies
                      Ghost photo.
I have used Photoshop to create a ghost image. The tools i have used on Photoshop are the quick selection, blur and the black and white tool. The background is of a dark corridor and ive used a picture of a boy. I've blurred the boys face to create a creepy ghost look.
My second picture is of a lady in black, shes in the middle of the road thats in the woods. The reason i selected the creepy background is because it has a creepy feel to it. The woman was scary so i used her. I got both pictures from google and imported them into Photoshop.
My third creepy picture ive created is this one, its a cell room with a man in a straight jacket. I also got both images off google i used the quick selection tool to cut out the man and moved him to the corner. Then i blurred him so he also had that ghostly look.

                                   White balance
The color of an object is affected by the lighting conditions under which it is viewed. Our eyes and our brain compensate for different types of light—that's why a white object appears white to us whether it's viewed in sunlight, under overcast skies or indoors under incandescent or fluorescent light. But digital cameras need help to emulate this process, to compensate for different types of lighting and render a white object white.

                                                Rule of thirds

The “Rule of Thirds” one of the first things that budding digital photographers learn about in classes on photography and rightly so as it is the basis for well balanced and interesting shots.

    This is my storyboard.

We had to make a storyboard and say what shots we were going to use. I have used
    - Ast shot which is zoomed out to set the scene
    - Close up which would be to introduced the character
-Ts to get a good look at the character, this shot would be zoomed out and be moved up and down
-pan, this is to see the rest of the characters, the camera action would be zoomed out and be moved from let to right
-Mid shot to get a look at the character speaking, slightly zoomed in
    - Extreme close up shot to see the character smile, the camera action would be fully zoomed in.

    - L'Oréal Paris True Match Makeup Commercial 2011, the music to the advert is a minor key. The music is a piano playing a deep tune with Jennifer Lopez talking about how much shes fell in love with the product.

    Sofaworks,Neil's celebrating-
There is two diegetic sounds in this advert and the rest are non-diegetic because there's a guy talking in the background and you cant see him and the music you cant see the singer or band so they are non-diegetic

    part 2-
The second half of the day we had to pick a company and find something back about it. I chose Johnson&Johnson, I was shocked to find out they did tested their products on animals. They are also a price-fixed company meaning their prices is only one set price. I found this out on Shop Ethical its a website that helps you choose the right company and this is my photoshop of the brand.

    Owain Davies- Clone tool

I have used Photoshop to create Zac Efron into having 5 eyes. I used the Clone Stamp and cloned his eyes.

I have used Photoshop and blended the lion in to Zac Efron.
This is just a try out which went wrong.

This was my first try with Photoshop, I got the picture off the internet. Then I cloned one of the eyes and moved it towards the forehead of the cat. It was a bit difficult as I had to make sure I didn't go outside of the eye.
What have I learned in this lesson? In this lesson I have leant how to use Photoshop, this lesson has helped me learn the basics in using Photoshop. I've never used Photoshop before so I'm very proud of my outcome. In this lesson I have only learnt how to use the clone tool, hopefully I'll learn other techniques and be very good at it.
